DIMMs (Dual Inline Memory Modules) look a lot like SIMMs, but they come in a 168-pin format. They are usually a faster and higher-performance memory than SIMMs, and are used in Pentium PCs. 72pinsimmmemory They come in capacities ranging from up to 64MB and beyond. Step 4: 72pinsimmmemory Parity Versus Non-Parity Chips A SIMM or DIMM usually has nine chips of memory on it. Eight of those chips are used for the memory itself. The ninth chip is called a parity 72pinsimmmemory chip. The parity chip is used for error checking, to make sure that the other chips aren''t making any errors. Some computer systems require parity chips, while others do not. In general, Pentium-based computers and certain 486s don''t require parity memory. Parity memory usually costs more than non-parity memory. Check your PC or motherboard''s manual to see which kind of memory your PC requires. EDO DRAM. Extended Data Out DRAM EDO speeds are measured in nanoseconds. You can buy EDO as fast as 50ns for your personal 72pinsimmmemory computer main memory (you may see faster EDO DRAM on some graphics cards. EDO memory is commonly available as 72-pin SIMMs). FPM DRAM. Fast Page Mode DRAM Fast-page mode is becoming increasingly scarce, but, unless you''re running a very early system (430NX chipset or earlier) or a 486 system, you probably don''t want to get DRAM. Fast-page mode memory comes in SIMMs. RDRAM is shipped in RIMMs (RAMBUS inline memory modules). Future systems using the Intel 820 chipset and the upcoming 600MHz plus Pentium IIIs will 72pinsimmmemory use RAMBUS memory, but they aren''t out as of this writing. Way back in the dark ages of the PC architecture, I once owned an original Compaq portable. While the Compaq supported a whopping 640KB 72pinsimmmemory of RAM, it only came with 256KB. I upgraded my Compaq myself with an additional 72pinsimmmemory 384KB of memory by carefully inserting 27 individual 16KB RAM chips. The hunger for memory has steadily increased since then; 64MB is no longer unusual. Upgrading memory is easier, too; you no longer must painfully 72pinsimmmemory and 72pinsimmmemory insert individual RAM chips. Where do you get your RAM? 4 All Memory.Com is your source for high-quality computer memory. We buy direct from major manufacturers and because we don''t pay a middleman we can offer our memory at great prices. 4 All Memory.Com carries Micron, Toshiba, Siemens, Kingston, Viking, PQI, and many other major manufacturers. We offer over 55,000 upgrades for more than 12,000 different computer systems. All of our memory is guaranteed 100% compatible with your system. We offer a lifetime warranty and we stand behind our products, period! Can I really install memory myself? The idea of opening up a computer''s case and fiddling around with its components might cause a beginning user to cringe, but this is one of the easiest upgrades you can 72pinsimmmemory do. You just have to turn the system off, ground yourself, open the case, and install the new RAM. You can go to our installation guide for more detailed instructions. Just click on the Help tab and then the link for "Installation Guides" Will memory from 4 All Memory.Com work with memory from another manufacturer? Yes. You can mix and match modules from different manufacturers. Keep in mind that you should always install the largest module in the lowest numbered slot. Would you like to find ddr, simm or dimm memory but aren't sure where to look? Search no further. We have any type of memory for any computer you have.
